A "Victory Router"
A funny name, a serious topic.

History
Why "Victory Router"? During the 1940's during the height of WWII, there was the "Victory Garden" ethos to make people and their countries more self-sufficient. They sprung up from the worlds desire to resist the Nazis in Germany, the Fascists in Italy, and the Emperor in Japan.
With the recent United States FCC ban on routers produced in foreign countries, it seemed prudent to start working on how I, a person with a decidedly non-green thumb but with plenty of technical capability, can make a difference.
So I decided to start working on the "Victory Router" project.
The "Victory Garden" ethos—self-reliance as a form of civic resilience - is an appropriate framing for a DIY hardware project. Given how much our personal lives depend on the integrity of our home networks, being able to "grow your own" infrastructure is a powerful skill to have.
So, pardon me if we get a bit too old-timey - I wanted to continue to mirror the 40's aestetic while working on the modern problem.
THE VICTORY ROUTER MANIFESTO
Securing the American Home. Defending the Digital Frontier.
The Great Connection is under threat. Just as the citizens of the 1940s turned their backyards into "Victory Gardens" to ensure the nation’s food security, we must now turn our desktops into "Victory Routers" to ensure our nation’s data security.
When the tools of communication become scarce or compromised, the resilient citizen does not wait for a solution—they build one. The Victory Router Project is a call to arms for every American to reclaim the sovereignty of their home network.
I. SELF-RELIANCE IS SECURITY
A "Victory Router" is not bought; it is built. By utilizing open-source software and transparent hardware, we eliminate the "black box" of foreign manufacturing and hidden backdoors. We trust only what we can verify.
II. THE PRIVACY OF THE HEARTH
The home is a sanctuary. In the digital age, the walls of that sanctuary are made of code. A Victory Router shall serve as a tireless sentry, shielding the family from the prying eyes of data-harvesters, bad actors, and foreign interests alike.
III. COMMUNITY THROUGH KNOWLEDGE
We do not hoard our expertise. The blueprints, the "Field Manuals," and the configurations of the Victory Router shall remain free to all. As one neighbor teaches another how to sow seeds, we shall teach one another how to flash firmware and harden firewalls.
IV. BUILT TO ENDURE
We reject "planned obsolescence." A Victory Router is built on modular, adaptable hardware. It is designed to be repaired, upgraded, and maintained for years, ensuring that the American household remains connected regardless of global supply chains.
